Projects & Services

Celebrants

American Ethical Union

Local Ethical Culture societies offer the services of celebrants to solemnize your wedding, memorial, baby welcoming, coming-of-age, or other celebration.

CFI Secular Celebrants

Although CFI Secular Celebrants are usually not recognized to perform legal marriage ceremonies in most states and countries because CFI isn’t a “religious” organization, other ceremonies, such as memorials, baby welcomings, coming-of-age, or other celebrations require no such recognition. Therefore secular celebrants are available to serve in those capacities.

If you are in Canada and need a humanist to give you the wedding, memorial, baby welcoming, coming-of-age, or other celebration you want, Humanist Canada has a cadre of trained and recognized celebrants across the country.

Boycott the Pledge

Before the words “under God” were added to the U.S. Pledge of Allegiance in 1954, it was secular and inclusive. After they were added, it made a lie out of the words surrounding them and became religious and exclusive, causing those who don’t believe in a monotheistic “god” to feel like second class citizens in their own country. The “Boycott the Pledge” campaign was started to encourage people “to stand up by sitting down” as long as the Pledge retains its exclusive language.
